New motor sports will be officially established in the Emirate of Dubai next year, starting with the introduction of the new Dubai City Circuit. The Circuit will welcome its first racing round next year and will continue to host events until a permanent facility is established.
The Dubai City Circuit was officially launched in October 2015 by The Managing Director of the Dubai Motor Sports Council, Dr. Alia Al Khail, who said the new event will be a high profile and historic first for the Emirate. “It has been a long time coming, but we’re delighted to announce the official opening of the Dubai City Circuit, which is set to become one of the most prestigious sporting facilities in the world,” said Al Khail.
“We’ve created a unique circuit situated within the stunning golden beaches of Dubai, giving drivers a truly memorable experience of world-class racing.
“Our first event is planned for 2018, with more events, courses and locations to follow, as our plans grow to include Formula One, as well as motorcycle, karting, rally and FIM SRO World Cup events.”
He added, “It will provide a wonderful sporting environment for all motorsport enthusiasts, offering something for everyone – racing on the streets of Dubai and on the iconic roads, as well as in an exclusive environment on the Circuit and in the international racing environment of the circuit’s purpose built facilities.”
The Dubai City Circuit is located within the historic and bustling Jumeirah Lake Towers area of Dubai. It is surrounded by the world famous Jumeirah Beach, the Palm Jumeirah, Dubai Marina, the prestigious Dubai Hills, and the stunning skyline of Dubai City.
